Politics!!!! What???? Please….

“Young people do not care about politics, they have never cared and they will never care.”

Anyone familiar with this statement? I am. This is the belief that the adult world has about us young people, and it is time for us to prove them wrong. From talking to my peers, we all seem to have some level of awareness about politics and I believe that we all care to a certain degree. The 2004 presidential election proved that more young people are becoming more interested in presidential elections with 80% of young registered voters saying that they will be voting in the 2004 presidential election. Why then do people still think that young people do not care about politics?

That is obviously a very interesting researchable topic for anyone who is interested in a study of such nature, but with my own little knowledge, maybe young people seem not to show enthusiasm towards politics because the version of politics that we get is boring and hard to understand. Through this blog, I hope that I can help to solve this problem. The aim and purpose of this blog is to break politics down to a level that is understandable and enjoyable for us. I will be specifically focusing on National and International politics and the effects that the decisions that are being made will have on our day to day lives. If you are yet to make up your mind on the presidential candidate that you would like to vote for, you can find the answer here. I will be doing a weekly assessment on all the presidential candidates and informing you all about their plans.

Don’t you worry, I will not be talking about politics all the time, I will also be giving you the scopes on some current events, such as, Major Supreme court decisions, Britney Spears loosing custody of her children, and Paris Hilton becoming a Christian. Let’s have some fun with this as we enter the election year.
